觀塘游泳池

今年早上第一次和弟弟到新建成的觀塘游泳池, 設計改善了, 尤其最愛浴室, 每一格都是獨立的去水渠, 以後不怕沖得乾淨時, 鄰家的泡泡攻擊.

今年的目標是要學會'踩水", 若以後都有弟弟這名私人教練, 我相信距離目標不遠, 他說的對, 要學會踩水, 還是到水深剛到口或耳的位置學.

多關注家人的健康

說起來有點漸愧, 都活了xx年, 才頭一回買藥給爸爸, 人老了, 少不免關節退化, 其實爸爸早幾年才開始吃葡萄糖胺(glucosamine), 那是因為膝蓋痛的關係.

很慶興自己選擇了護士這行業, 這令我多關注家人的健康.

相隔一年半, 我自覺心態成熟了不少, 以往我不想再做一個只會讀書的書呆子, 因而會把放學後的時間投放在其他與醫護無關的活動消閒; 但現在, 我開始感到怯, 明瞭豐富自己醫護知識的重要性, 這一年的時間, 對我而言, 是十分重要, 我要好好準備自己!

赤腳跑步

多謝t 小姐, 多謝早放了的law lecture, 在lunch time 到gym room 跑一會兒步, 第一次赤腳跑跑步機, 感覺還十分自在 ^^

nurse

我還是放棄了在維基加上伊利沙伯醫院普通科護士訓練學校這一條目, 嘗試了兩次也不成功, 也不知道什麼原因.....放在BLOG 上就好了.

以前打blog, 不想多提及nurse, 因為不想自己的人生中只有nurse, 但近來, 會希望用自己的經驗去令少部分人有些得著, 那怕是丁點兒也好. 想起了新校長wendy 的一句說話: 選擇你所愛, 愛你所選擇.

伊利沙伯醫院普通科護士訓練學校, SGN,QEH

伊利沙伯醫院普通科護士訓練學校（School of General Nursing, Queen Elizabeth Hospital,簡稱為SGN,QEH）,是香港醫管局三間普通科註冊護士課程的其中一間，其餘兩間分別為屯門醫院護士學校(TMH)，和明愛醫院普通科護士學校(CMC)。屬九龍中聯網, 位於九龍加士居道30號。乘搭至佐敦地鐵站, 走五至十分鐘就到.

教學模式
普通科註冊護士課程為期三年，每年有兩個學期（term），每個term nursing therapeutics每科多有pre-test (10%), mid-term test(30%)和exam(50%) ,另外有projects, problem based learning 等評核方式。學生會被分為十小組, 每組有一名named tutor.每兩三個月會相間以上課(study block)和實習(field study/ placement)教授理論和臨床病房經驗, 實習醫院主要是伊利沙伯醫院, yr 2/3 會到不同的專科實習, e.g. A&E(accident & emergency department, 急症室),obs (obstetrics 婦產科), OT(operation theatre, 手術室), CNS (community nursing services, 社康護士),   另外也會到九龍醫院, 佛教醫院(rehab/ geriatrics),診所,東區尤德醫院(mental health)等地方實習.筆試會於校內進行, 而實習試則會於病房內進行, 包括無菌技術(aseptic technique,AT), 派口服藥(administration of oral medicine, AOM), 及 TPC (total patient care)[跟據病病的diagnosis, 作出相應的nursing care].

收生
一年收生一百名學生，每年收到的申請表約一千四百人，被通知安排面試的約有一千一百人, 多於Jupas結果公佈後進行。分first round 和second round 通知, second round 的入圍同學約於8 月下旬獲得通知.
面試形式分兩部分,
- 個人方面主要以英文進行，e.g 為何想讀這間學校? Please use one household tool to describe your personality.
- 小組討論方面以中文進行, e.g. 健康服務助理員和護士的分別是?

學費與津貼
一年學費二萬八千元, 分兩個學期以支票繳交,合資格同學可透過學生資助辦事處獲得學費減免(最高可全費減免).實習是課程要求的其中一部分,約為一千五百小時,並不會得到津貼. (但伊利沙伯yr2/3 同學有機會獲得TUNS 短期合約, 可自行request duty 於星期六日, 或於假日到病房獲取經驗, 並取得薪水. ) [* 2013, yr2: $79/hr ; 2014, yr 3: $82/hour ]

護士學校歷史悠久，1960開辦，1996年起與理工大學等教育機構合辦，2003年曾停辦。

校舍／設備
平日上課主要在兩層高的教學樓, 有兩個lab以進行實習課,會以其他教學機構合辦,如理工大學,東華學院.human biology 會借用其實驗室, 而中醫課程則由Dr. Paul Chan 教授.
校內有圖書館, 同學也可借用m block 4樓的書籍.
附近餐廰有以大家樂營運的大細can, 和靠近捐血中心的恆煇.
其他設施包括自修室,s座的gym room, pantry 房的六部微波爐,兩部有冷熱水供應的飲水機.
s座的宿舍可借同學申請, 但名額只有約男女各十個.一間房可住三人, 三人房價錢三千三元,  每人約一千一百元.

學生福利
一年級同學可參加由學生會舉辦的迎新日和為期約三天的迎新營.
同學可以職員價以七八折享用醫院內pacific coffee 的飲品和食品.

校服
淺藍色短袖外衣, 白色長褲. 另有藍色連身裙設計. 與中文大學護學校的校服相似, 容易混淆.

同學可於畢業後修讀香港大學或理工大學的Top-up degree part time課程

first day in g4

昨天番placement 是感覺良好的一天, 因為至少沒有被罵, 也有點實際的東西做. 幫病人吹頭, 做了腳指公的dressing, 學到了正確包腳指的方法. ^^

gazetted ward 的病人輕較年輕, 昨天打聽到, 最年幼的只有十三歲而已, 病人的問題也較多樣化.印像最深刻的是十七歲的julie, 她屬attention seeking. 另外,見識了愛偷竊的病人.

跟一個94歲的婆婆聊了很多, 她是少有的那麼年長, 說話還是那麼流利.對以往的事還記得那麼清楚.

遇到了一個好nice 的ou pupil nurse, 多謝她的提點.

j3 psychiatric rehab ward

第二天到j3 psychiatric rehab ward, 發覺psychi ward 跟普通的病房很不同, 普通的病房,只要病人有要求, 我們都盡量達到, 但rehab ward 的最主要功能是幫助病人建立自理能力, 所以最好讓病人自己穿襪子,滴眼藥水.

第二天, 似乎較適應了這病房的運作, 不再感到那麼強烈的無聊感, 會更主動跟病人溝通,聊天. 但我想我將來也不會以mental health 作為我的specialty.

回家後, 磨憎了好一會兒, 直至佘whatsapp我, 才捨得開工寫reflective journal. 純吹水的一篇:

Having first time placement in a psychiatric ward and deep-seated mindset about mental problems patients, to be honest, I did have some worries about clients’ unexpected behaviors. Yet, I found that it is totally different from what I think about at the very beginning. All patients are like normal people, some are even talkative and outgoing, except few of them showing emotion instability. But it is understood that everyone would have ups and downs in life. And I am especially impressed by their marvelous handicrafts talent.

The impression of a psychiatric ward is a lot more different from what I imagine, I have never thought that the activities could be so wide-ranging in rehabilitation ward, including first aid talk, graffiti wall, cooking class, Baduanjin. They are all designed to enrich the patients’ life and have them engaged in some activities to either develop their interests or promote their physical fitness. I think that the t-shirt like clothing and some home-like beds, both simulate the environment of home and help them to recover to a certain extent.

        There is a huge difference between general and mental ward nursing care as well. In the general ward, we would lend our helping hand whenever possible. However, we leave the tasks to them so as to train them to be independent. I believe that it is one of the most important parts of nursing care. It helps them to incorporate into the community and empower them after hospitalization.

        The skills for promoting recovery are more challenging in the psychiatric ward since patients usually live for a longer period up to a few months or years. It requires more patience. Yet most clients are willing to share and friendly, for example, an auntie taught us how to fold a plain paper into a vivid rose; a girl was willing to talk about her love problem; an old lady tapped on a sofa as a gesture to signal me to sit down and talk with her. As long as we show our care and concern, say communicating with them more, they can vent and soothe their emotions and get well soon.
